A tiring day at work, I left early considering the numerous things I had to look into this Christmas. I was not in the mood to indulge into any kind of festivity as it doesn’t feel like it from inside. As I set out of office, the cold winter chills got me thinking hard if I really needed all these things for Christmas. Could I just skip it? Christmas comes every year.
I walked a lot because cab drivers these days have more self-esteem in saying ‘No’ to people than I do. As I walked, I realised that nothing has changed much over the last few years then what is all the hype for Christmas really about? I reached the famous market in town and was mesmerised by the festive beauty. Lights, colours, streamers and trees, there wasn’t a single thing to demean or forgo the Christmas fever.
I was taken aback by all the people crowding around the stores in hope of buying every single thing at a cheaper price. As soon as I entered the lane, I glared upon this beautiful shop with fairy lights and Christmas wreaths that highlighted this shop from the rest. As I was about to check the quality of it, someone just pushed me in a way that I lost my balance completely and fell down.
Taking my own sweet time to get up, I expected chaos, pushing, shouting and abuses for having stood or even existed in such a market. But when I looked up at the culprit, she was literally talking to me and asking me if I was okay. I fumbled in confusion and agreed to her with an embarrassing smile. She helped me get up and was continuously talking to me. I thanked her immediately and we had a sweet conversation. She guided me through the market in one go like a map and told me all the shops that would bargain to eternity.
Quite overwhelmed, I finished my shopping and felt a tad better. I set out for home with heavy bags and tiring eyes. It almost felt like the weight of the world on my body and I’m struggling to get through with it. With all the tiredness, my tired eyes became all teary once again. Something inside me felt broken and empty. There are so many things lined up in life for me and so many things for me to do if I’d only get the time to sit and realise all of it. As I reached my room, I went straight to the washroom and burst out with tears.
Christmas is a season of love, joy, happiness and realizations. It’s that time of the year when the entire month is celebrated and adored for the ‘Christmas feel’ and the excitement of the event. The advent of the season in itself marks the beginning of one of the best festivals and experiences.
Right from the childhood Santa Claus to Secret Santas at the age of majority, we fly from unrealistic beings to a realistic concept hidden in actual people. This wonderful journey marked by Christmas sweets, rum cakes and beautiful gifts, throws light upon a better future and a happier New Year!
At that moment in life, all these thoughts jumbled in my head when I suddenly looked at my crying face in the mirror. It gave me a crying face in return. I tried smiling and It gave me a smiling face in return.
That’s when I realised that the reflection of self, determines the journey you precede.
In a confused world of so many things lined up, there are a billion others with similar situations. A repetition of this, every year, need not make me feel less of it or lonelier in any manner. It’s a chance to realise that maybe this could change if you just perceive this differently.
“The way I looked at it, is the way it will look back at me.”
I don’t think that lady would have helped a fallen me if I would’ve shouted or abused her in that crowd. She enhanced a reflection in me that amazed me and made me react in a similar way. Everyone fights a battle we know nothing of. The way we react reflects the way we are in the form of our aura.
Christmas is a repetition every year but the feeling gets reflected from within. A feeling that helps spread the joy all around. However monotonous things might seem with time, try different reflections to express it. What you take from it is what you give and spread around.
“Make Christmas a reflection of your inner wisdom and strength. It’ll come back to you tenfold!”
